The Association’s crafts charity, QEST, was established in 1990 to mark the Association’s 150th anniversary and HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother’s 90th birthday.
Scholarships worth up to £15,000 each are awarded to committed and talented craftspeople of all ages for further training and work experience. Awards are made twice a year. Scholars may use the QEST logo on their stationery, website and advertisements.
Since 1991 QEST has made cash awards totalling over £1.4 Million to 218 craftspeople aged from 17 to 50 plus. They represent 90 craft and conservation skills from clock restoration and calligraphy to winemaking and woodturning.
The Award Panel looks for well thought out projects which reflect the excellence of modern and traditional British crafts symbolised by the Royal Warrant. The Scholarships offer many craftspeople their only chance of achieving their ambitions and are a vital stepping stone to further successes.
